TeachAnyClass.org is committed to being accessible to as many teachers as possible, in as many contexts as possible. Accessibility is central to our mission — we want our resources to be usable by educators everywhere, including those using assistive technology, slow internet, older devices, or working in languages other than English.
This statement explains what we’ve done to make the site accessible, what we’re still working on, and how to let us know if you run into problems.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our baseline, and to go beyond this where we can. We also pay particular attention to accessibility needs that matter to teachers working in challenging circumstances — not just those covered by formal standards.
What we’ve done
Readable content
- All written content is drafted in accessible English at CEFR B1 level — plain, clear, and avoiding jargon wherever possible
- Content is structured with clear headings, short paragraphs, and logical reading order
- We avoid technical terms, idioms, and cultural references that may not translate well
Translation
- The entire site can be translated into 100+ languages via the translation tool on every page
- We’ve designed our content to translate cleanly — avoiding wordplay, idioms, or phrasing that often breaks machine translation
Visual design
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background
- Text resizes cleanly when zoomed
- No content relies on colour alone to convey meaning
- Layouts work across a wide range of screen sizes, from small mobile phones to large desktops
Navigation
- A clear, consistent menu on every page
- A home icon for quick return to the main page
- Keyboard navigation is supported throughout
- “Skip to content” links for screen reader users
Images and media
- Meaningful images have text descriptions (alt text)
- Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them
Performance
- Pages are designed to load reliably on slow connections
- We avoid heavy scripts, auto-playing video, or unnecessary animations
- The site works without requiring an account or sign-up
What we’re still working on
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We know there’s more to do, including:
- Improving alt text on older images
- Adding transcripts to embedded videos where possible
- Continuing to review older content for plain-language improvements
- Further testing with assistive technologies such as screen readers
If you come across an accessibility barrier, we’d genuinely like to know.
If something doesn’t work for you
Please tell us. We take accessibility feedback seriously and will try to fix issues promptly.
You can reach us via our Contact page. When reporting an accessibility issue, it helps if you can tell us:
- The page where the problem occurs (a URL or page title)
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong
- What device, browser, or assistive technology you were using (if relevant)
Assistive technology and older devices
We’ve tried to make the site work on:
- Modern screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Older browsers and devices where teachers may be working with limited resources
- Mobile phones, tablets, and shared computers
- Slow or intermittent internet connections
If you’re using assistive technology and encounter a problem, please let us know which tool you’re using so we can reproduce and fix the issue.
Third-party content
Some parts of our site use third-party services — most notably Google Translate for translations. These services have their own accessibility considerations and may not fully meet WCAG AA in every situation. We’ve chosen them because they significantly expand access for our global audience, but we monitor this trade-off carefully.
Our commitment
TeachAnyClass.org exists to make teaching resources freely available to educators everywhere. Accessibility isn’t an afterthought for us — it’s part of what “free and for everyone” actually means.
