More information

Numbers can be written in soil or chalk at no cost. This active game sustains attention.

Reduce the number of options on the ground for children who need a simpler choice.

Do children move confidently to the correct number? Can they respond to a sum rather than just a number name?

Write numbers in soil with a stick or arrange numbered stones. No chalk or printed resources needed. The game works on any outdoor surface.

Children may move to the right general area but not the exact number, particularly with numbers that look similar (e.g. 6 and 9, or 2 and 5). Ensure numbers are written clearly and large, and address reversals specifically.
