Collect and Tell

1. 1 Ask students to safely collect a few small natural items from the environment.
2. 2 Explain that they will use these objects to talk about them.
3. 3 Model a simple description using one object.
4. 4 Put students into small groups and ask them to describe their items.
5. 5 Encourage them to explain why they chose each item.
6. 6 Ask students to ask questions about each other’s objects.
7. 7 Invite groups to share one object with the class.
8. 8 Finish by discussing what vocabulary students used.
