More information

Children can label numbers in their home language. The drawings make meaning accessible without text.

Reduce the range of numbers for children who need more focus.

Do children count correctly before sticking? Do they understand that different collections can show the same number?

Fold scrap paper to make a booklet. Stick objects with mud or sap if glue is unavailable, or draw them instead. Natural materials from outdoors work well.

Children sometimes draw more or fewer objects than intended because they lose count mid-drawing. Encourage them to count before drawing and then check afterwards.
