More information

Number cards can be hand-drawn. No printed resources needed.

Use dot cards alongside numeral cards for children still connecting symbols to quantities.

Does the child recognise the numeral immediately or need to count up to it? Can they match without support?

Write numerals on flat stones, leaves, or scraps of paper using charcoal or chalk. No printed number cards needed.

Children may place the right number of objects next to a card without actually reading the numeral — they sometimes count the objects already placed near other cards and copy that amount. Verify by asking 'what number does that card say?' separately.
