Resources needed

  • Open space with flat floor

Lesson stages

0 / 7 done
  1. 1 Stand back to back with a partner — feel each other's weight.
  2. 2 Slowly sit down together without using hands.
  3. 3 Stand back up together without using hands.
  4. 4 Face each other, hold hands, and lean back — find a balance point.
  5. 5 Try to balance with only 3 feet on the floor between the two of you.
  6. 6 Create your own balance shape with your partner.
  7. 7 Show your shape to another pair.

Tap a step to mark it as done.

  • Create a balance shape that tells a story.
More information

Teach: balance, lean, support, hold, together, careful. Emphasise communication between partners throughout.

Standing balance tasks only for students with knee or hip issues. Skip the sit-stand task.

Are students communicating with their partner? Do they adjust their body position to maintain shared balance?

No equipment needed. Works on any flat surface.

Students try to do the tasks independently without actually using their partner. Remind them — if one person lets go, both fall. That is the point.

Partner balance builds trust and communication alongside physical skills. Excellent for developing class cohesion.
