Build and Write a Story

1. 1 Explain that students will first create a story by speaking together.
2. 2 Start the story with one simple sentence.
3. 3 Ask each student in the group to add one sentence to continue the story.
4. 4 Encourage students to listen carefully so the story makes sense.
5. 5 After the story is complete, ask students to work together to write a short version.
6. 6 Support them by reminding them of key sentences from the story.
7. 7 Invite groups to read their written stories aloud.
8. 8 Finish by discussing how speaking helped organise the writing.
