  1. 1 Choose a simple word or phrase, such as 'hello' or 'thank you'.
  2. 2 Say the word clearly and check that all students understand its meaning.
  3. 3 Ask students if they know how to say the word in another language.
  4. 4 Invite students to share their versions, one at a time, with the class.
  5. 5 Encourage the class to repeat each version to practise pronunciation.
  6. 6 Ask students which words sound similar or different and why.
  7. 7 Repeat the activity with a few new words or phrases.
  8. 8 Finish by discussing how many languages are present in the classroom.
