  1. 1 Give students a list of words, either spoken or written on the board.
  2. 2 Ask them to work in pairs and think about how the words can be grouped.
  3. 3 Encourage them to explain why they chose each category.
  4. 4 After a few minutes, invite pairs to share their groupings.
  5. 5 Discuss similarities and differences between answers.
  6. 6 Add new words and ask students to place them in categories.
  7. 7 Highlight that some words may belong to more than one group.
  8. 8 Finish by asking students how grouping helped them remember the words.
