Children build patterns and predict what comes next.
Tap a step to mark it as done.
Label the pattern using letters (A, B) as an abstract bridge before moving to verbal descriptions.
Start with two-element patterns (AB) and only introduce three elements (AAB) when children are confident.
Can children identify the repeating unit? Can they continue a pattern without the full sequence visible?
Natural objects from outside are ideal. Leaves, stones, and sticks provide at least three distinct types for pattern making at no cost.
Children frequently continue a pattern correctly for two or three elements but then drift into a different rule. Ask them to read their pattern aloud from the beginning — errors become immediately audible.
