Children look for shapes around them.
Tap a step to mark it as done.
Draw the shape clearly before beginning the hunt. Allow children to use their own words to describe it first.
Give children a drawn reference card showing each shape to carry during the hunt.
Can children identify a shape in different orientations and sizes? Can they say what makes it that shape?
The everyday environment is the only resource needed. This activity works anywhere — inside or outside — with no materials required.
Children often fail to recognise a shape when it is a different size or orientation than the one first shown. Reinforce that a circle is still a circle whether it is big, small, or tilted.
